When you fast and pray you must do so with faith. According to the book of Hebrews, faith is defined as, "the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen" (chapter one and verse one). Without faith, fasting will be to no avail. We must put all our trust and faith in God so that he will supply our every need. Fasting is very effective medium that can help us to eradicate sin from our lives. Throughout the scriptures, there are numerous accounts of persons performing this act. Even Jesus himself fasted! So my brothers and sisters in Christ I urge you to fast and prayer in faith because the rewards that will be reaped from doing so will be tremendous. :)

Obedience To God.
There are faith, hope, and love, and the greatest of these is love. But greater than love is obedience, if the love does not include obedience. The greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart and strength. But implicit in that love is obedience. Genuine love for God works out in strict obedience to God. Apart from obedience to the Father there is no love for God and there is no Kingdom of God.

1Samuel15:22-23

But Samuel replied: "Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you as king."

I am pointing out the obvious here because typical Christian thinking maintains that Christians are not required to obey God strictly and sternly in view of the fact that we are "saved by grace."

John14:15-21

If ye love me, keep my commandments. And i will pray the Father, and he shall give you another comforter, that ye may abide with you forever. Even the spirit of truth: whom the word cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him: for  he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: i will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more: but ye see me: because i live, ye shall live also. At that day ye shall know that i am in my father, and ye in me and i in you. He that hath my commandments, and keepth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and i will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Obedience is keeping the commandments and honoring them, towards the Lord. We may all stray at times, through temptation, but God knows this and he expects us to sin and repent for it. But greater than that is not giving in to temptation and having no reason to repent, but continue on the righteous path.

Acts 5:29

Then Peter  and the others apostles answered and said we ought to obey God and not men.

It is of no profit in honoring this worldly life, because it is of no value in the end. Adhere to the word of God not by the teachings of this world.

Peace with God.

Most people have an idea of what they believe it will take to be accepted by God. After all, who likes the idea of exiting this life without being on good terms with him? Thankfully, its possible to be certain that you've made peace with God, but the way must be chosen during this life.

Romans5:1

We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever bellieve in him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 10:10

I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

God loves you and wants you to experience peace and an eternal, fulfilling life. God did not create us like robots to automatically love and mechanically obey him. God gave us a will and the freedom to choose. The first man and woman chose to disobey God and go their own willful way. And we still make that choice today.

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death.

Isaiah 59:2

Your iniquities have made a seperation between you and your God.

People have tried many ways to bridge this Gap between themselves and God. Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from the grave. Though he was God's sinless Son, he became a human, took our place, and paid the penalty for our sin, bridging the gap between God and us. God has provided the only way to forgiveness of sin and eternal life. But each person must make a choice.

1Timothy 2:5

For there is one God, and there is one meditator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

Revelation 3:20

Behold i stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice andopens the door, i will come in and eat with him, and he with me.

John 14:6

I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.

We must trust Jesus Christ as our savior and receive him by personal choice.
