How does Simon Peter feel about himself, and how does Jesus change that? Simon Peter was a very skillful fisherman. He knew how to fish and that letting down the net into the deep could receive nothing. But as Jesus asked he did it. Amazingly he caught multitude of fish, which astonished him and even frightened him, because he knew that Jesus was more than a common person. He felt unclean and sinful about himself when he was facing Jesus, the sacred man. When the light cast into the darkness could the darkness realize how dark itself was. So he begged Jesus to leave him so that he could avoid to see himself in the darkness. But Jesus changed this by consign him with a great mission - to catch multitude of people as multitude of fish. Then Simon followed Jesus as a one of the disciples.

What part of Jesus` "mission statement" (reading from Isaiah) has the most appeal to you? The word of "recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed, and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord" has the most appeal to me. Because it casts light on me and gives me the hope. Once I was blind but now I can see. I was not able to tell right from wrong, which put me into trouble and made me unsure about myself, but now I will be able to know the standards and exactly what to do. Once I was wrongly and unfairly treated but now I will be delivered. I am not able to break the prison by myself but now the Lord Jesus Christ himself opens the gate for me to flee away. All this can be done is because only the Lord accepts me! Hallelujah!
