We know that God has choosen to dwell within us. He stands at the door of our heart and knocks, asking to be let in, in order that He might dine with us. This is a very special thing. Sharing meals together was a very special occassion during that time. We are also called the bride of Christ. Marriage and it's levels of intimacy are a reflection of the closeness that we are to have with our father, Jesus Christ. If our hearts are closed off to Jesus, then we are not allowing Him to come into parts of our lives. We are still clinging onto certain things. We do not want to expose them to "light" of Jesus, for we already know that they are wrong. We, in whatever action or thought, are not being obedient to Christ. We do not want it His way, we want it OUR way. Or, we do not really believe or trust that Jesus can indeed help us with whatever particular problem we are facing. Therefore, we are not coming to Him for help with the problem, but instead trying to fix it all on our own. We are told to delight ourselves in the richness of the Lord. Those that come to Him shall not hunger or thrist. Our souls shall be satisfied in Him. As this occurs, we will be transformed due to the renewing of our minds from the reading of His Word. We are unable to please God on our own. All of our most righteous acts are as filthy rags to the Lord. No matter what we do to try and please God, they are still tainted with our dirty sin. If we try to please God on our own, there can still be pride in that, where we are trying to show God what WE have done. But, we forget that it is God who gives us the strength. (John 15) In Being united with Him in Spirit, He will speak to us and whisper to our souls what His will and desire is for us. I know that it may sound corny but I do not (or at least I would hope to) not discuss anything, but simply just be before Him and listen. I think the sins that I have committed in my life would not even need explaining. He already sees and knows them. However, if I was trying to hide them before God, that would be another story. He already sees and knows all of them. We cannot keep anything hidden before God. His look and eyes would say enough in how I have grieved Him. However, my wife and I have been reading the Chronicles of Narnia together and in The Horse and His Boy, Aslan tells them that He is not telling them someone else's story, but theirs. Scripture also tells us that there are some things that we needent consider or worry about. We cannot even perceive all that is in the mind of God. His ways are so much higher than our ways. I think that when there are things that He wants us to know, He will tell us. But for other things, as in Philippians 2:6-7, when it tells not to be anxious for anything, but in prayer and petition to present our requests to God, it doesn't say that He will neccessarily answer our requests. Instead it says that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. He gives us the peace and knowledge that God is Soverign and in control of all things. We see and experience hardship, but still know that He knows each individual hair on our head. He knows us so well and knows what we are going through. One day He will wipe away every tear as well. I would hope to just sit there and learn from Him. To quiet myself (as I need to do more here and now) and hear what He wants me to here. To have my focus not on my and my trivial worries and concerns, but to be a Mary, who just sits at His feet and be in his presence.
How does Jesus link intimacy to him with obedience to him?" a "New" commandment?

If you had a one-on-one meal with Jesus, what would you discuss?
