"Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?)
No.not Jesus but the Pharisees and the Herodians already at once began to plot against him, discussing how to destroy him when he cured the man with a withered hand on the sabbath day(Mark:3:1-6) Jesus`love to you accomanied his passion from the begining. This was the conclution of tragic reality that God became a man.

What would have been your response if you had seen Jesus killed and then alive again? What would cause others to respond differently?
You would come out and run away from the tomb because you would be frightened out of your wits;and you would say nothing to a soul, for you would be afraid. And you would not believe Mary of Magdala when you hear her say that he was alive and that she had seen him. After this,he showed himself under another form to two of them as they were on their way into the country. These went back and told you,who did not believe them either.Lastly,he showed himself to you the Eleven yourself while you were at table. He reproached you for your incredulity and obstinacy, because you had refused to believe those who had seen him after he had risen.

Joseph from the town of Arimathaea was a wealthy Jewish religious leader. What risk did he take and why was he willing to do this? Note: Isaiah 53:9 - "And they made His grave with the wicked, But with the rich at His death."
On the one hand as soon as darkness fell, it would no longer be permitted to do any kind of work, and in strict Jewish eyes the land would be " defiled"(Deuteronomy 21:23)if the body of a Jew allowed to remain in the place of execution unburied until the next day.On the other hand the usual Roman practice was to leave the dead body exposed, and refuse them proper burial. Moreover victims of crucifixion often took two or three days to die. But Joeph was a respected member of the Council.and he is a friend of Pilate. And he also a man who looked forward to the kingdom of God,and a rich man, then he was able to ask for Jesus`body and could bury only the body into his own new tomb.Recently Protestan Scholars claim that one of three tomb on the outside of north castle gate in Jerusalem was Jesus`(According to Harvey,Companion to the New Testament,1971).
