If John`s baptism was for repentance, then why do you think Jesus was baptized?

Jesus was baptized to set an example for us that with baptizing in water in HIS name and without receiving HIS Holy Spirit we cannot enter HIS Kingdom.

If you were Mark, writing a short report to demonstrate to a Roman audience that Jesus (a Jewish man) was the Son of God, what would you include in that report?

I would write that Jesus is the only one and true God. He is the father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He is the one who created the heaven and earth, everything. He is a true son of God, who left all his glory and manifested himself in the form of human Being. He is messiah.

Why didn`t the elders want the true story of Jesus` resurrection to get out?

Because they do not want people to believe that Jesus rose again and fulfilled his word. Otherwise the people will start believing in Jesus and follow him.
