He who has the Son, has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. This scripture clearly states that if you have Christ, you will have eternal life. Anyone who does not have Jesus will not have an eternal life. Therefore when you failed to have a relationship with the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, you will not have an eternal life. I personally think that Jesus was experiencing all the evil temptation just like the rest of us, "sinners". His temptation was much stronger as He knew He is the Son of God. He can leave earth and return to His Father in heaven. However, Jesus knew exactly the reason God sent Him down to earth. He only obey in one and only true God. Therefore, He is to experienced everything a human were to experience ie. physical and emotional pain. The penalty He paid to free us all was in fact a victory to the devil. If Jesus were to only experience spiritual separation, people at that time would not believe that he is indeed a Son of God. Only then they knew that nothing can defeat God. God can conquer death as long as we abide in Him. What He did and went through was the beginning of a cross, Christianity.
What point is Jesus making when He states "eternal life" is knowing the Father and Jesus Christ? ![]()
