1013 entries for this category: About 2000 years ago in Bethlehem, Jesus was born.He was brought up in Nazareth, and was called Jesus of Nazareth. He was a carpenter for approximately 30 years and during this time Israel was under Roman rule, Caesar's authority. After which His public ministry covered a 3 year period when he showed His first sign or miracle by turning water to wine at a wedding, and many more. He healed the sick,blind to see,crippled to walk and raised Lazarus from death. Whilst Jesus reputation grew the Jewish relegious leaders were unhappy because they were jealous,unhappy and envious of His popularity. It also threatened the existence of the Jewish leaders. Jesus, was obedient to Jewish laws and claimed He was God. This annoyed and upset the Jewish leaders and they accused Jesus of blasphemy. Jesus' popularity caused the hateful Jewish leaders to pressure the Roman governor to crucify Jesus on the cross, a torturous death. He raised on the third day and showed Himself to His desciples, 500 witnesses,and appeared in Jerusalem.He spent a total of 40 days revealing to witnesses before His ascension to heaven.He now sits on the right hand of God interceeding for us. All this influenced many more and more and more believers added to Jesus' way.Despite resistance the followers increased day by day believing Jesus to be truly God. In the next 6 centuries, Romans, Greeks, became Christians and the word of God spread throughout the world. Jesus taught us 1. God loves us and He is with us. 2. To love one another and not hatred. 3. To show care and help another person. 4. The gospel and to adhere to it 5. The final judgement-heaven or hell. 6.That God will forgive those who ask in Jesus' name. Jesus died and took our sins on Him and left in us the Holy Spirit when we believed in Him. The Spirit will guide us to be Christ-like during His absence.
