Jesus claimed that after a future period of destruction and distress, he (The Son of Man) will come back to earth with great power and glory. What did Jesus say he would do at that time?

After the destruction of the "old world", after the end of the "old" heaven and earth, after the passing of God's judgement, Jesus will come down, will come back to earth and set up the "new" heaven and earth, set up the "new" world starting with those who were saved from destruction. It will literally be living heaven on earth from then on.

He will send out his angels, and will gather together his chosen ones from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the sky.

What was Jesus trying to teach about giving (amount, motive, attitute)?

Jesus was trying to teach us that in giving it is not the amount that is important, rather it is the right motive and attitude that count. If we only give because we do not have need of it already or we give only what is excess for us, then it is not giving. When we give because we expect something in return or because of selfish motive/reason, then it is also not giving. We should give from the heart, expecting nothing (except perhaps that God will be pleased with us), and to give to genuinely share what we have, that's how Jesus want us to give.
