He teached the good news, gave a chance to repent and bring back our faith to God. And to die in the Cross. To show His Great Love to mankind. "Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?) Jesus was the true authority to preach God's Kingdom wherein religious leaders could not accept the way he presented His teachings. Pride of religious leaders which is one of the cardinal sins led Jesus to death on the cross.

Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God? Jesus fully embraced our human nature. He had to suffer physical and emotional pain to show how to overcome evil and strengthen our spirit in God. He showed us a true model of God's servant on how to face struggle in this world in preparation for the coming of God's kingdom.
