What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you?

Jesus is the wisdom of God. It was unfolded when he was left at the temple, and was found with the teachers. In his young age, he amazed wise men of his knowledge of God.

What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you?

Its very interesting to read about Jesus' background. There's really nothing that surprised or stood out though since I am more or less familiar already with it, having read the Bible and other religious articles about it, watched movies about it since I was young and having friends who are actually Jews. Though I must admit I was touched to know that they only had two meals a day, just a light breakfast and a full dinner, and that they ate on a common bowl with their hands only. The more it made me grateful to God that my family and I are in a better situation. Thanks God so much, too, that women are not considered second class citizens akin to slaves anymore in our present situation. But there are still things in Jesus' time that are still the same as of now, like the very large disparity between social classes, between the rich and the poor, between the powerful and the powerless.

Why did the multitude want Barabbas released rather than Jesus?

they have released barabbas instead of Jesus because they were so envious of Jesus that they want him crucified.
