Why did Jesus tell the man to take up the mat and walk, even though Jesus knew this violated what the Jews permitted on the Sabbath? Jesus told the man to take up the mat and walk even though He knew this violated what the Jews permitted on the Sabbath because He felt sorry for the man who suffered for many long years. His compassion made Him decide to heal the sick man. Please take note that Jesus even asked the man if he wanted to be cured. That means, Jesus still wanted the man to use his free will and when the sick man expressed his desire to be healed, Jesus performed another miracle, i.e., healed him even though it was a Sabbath.

Why do some people need signs and wonders to believe in Jesus, and others do not? Some people need signs and wonders to believe in Jesus and other do not need because of the different level of spiritually one has. If you really believe and have faith with Jesus, no need for you to see signs and wonders but if you do not have enough faith, even if there are so many signs and miracles, you will still have doubt about His being the Son of God.
