Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
Jesus' penalty for sin needs to include physical and emotional pain at that time because he was taking on the body of man, which is subject to such pain. By having such an experience,He's providing salvation not only to our spirit but also to our soul and body.
