Jesus accomplished the following purposes:

1.He brings good news to the world to set people free from the bondage of sin

2.Sacrifice Himself for others, died so that people may live forever- a selfless God

3. source of abundant life that in Him, seeking His Kingdom provide us our daily needs including spiritual needs .

What about this story disturbs or comforts you?

It comforted me in some ways. One that there is heavenly justice and that after suffering so much on earth, we can hope for a blissful existence in God's kindgdom. Second, that even how bad a person can be, there is also goodness in him. The rich man cared enough for his family left behind that he did not want them to suffer the same thing as his. Third, that we, while we are still living and able, should not be selfish and self centered, that we should care and help those who are less fortunate than us, that as Christ Jesus has been preaching, that we should love our fellowmen as we love ourselves.

How does Jesus link intimacy to him with obedience to him?" a "New" commandment?

If indeed we love Jesus, He will disclose himself to us and there is no way that we could disobey him because he will manifest his love to us.
