Why is this old man Simeon so excited to meet this baby Jesus? Simeon was a god fearing man who was filled with the Holy Spirit. He wanted Israel to be saved, and he knew only Jesus could do that. He was also assured by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's promised Messiah. This could be the reason he was excited.
