What does Jesus mean that "Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled and whoever humbles himself will be exalted"?

How does Jesus want to care for the people of Jerusalem (Israel), and how do they respond?

He speaks like a wounded and dejected mother. Saying that prophets in the past have been killed and that that will befall him too: the third day the mission shall be completed. They refused to hear the prophets who too had come in the name of the Lord. The parable of servants beaten up when they came tio exact the work. Doing the same, paradoxically, though they physically see him they do not see him Jesus and partake of the salvific mission which is denied. Till they say that he is.Then they can receive healing: your faith healed you in other words trust in the father who sent the Son.But how many times the chicks refused to follow mother hen's call and gather under her wings? He is the Son of God and has come not toexact, not only, but first of all to heal and take the adopted children of God under His protective wings. Like Mary's mantel.

Jesus answers that to be saved, it is not enough for the person to know the Lord, rather the Lord needs to know the person. What does this mean?

Tricky quetsion: the Lord is oniscient so He knows everysingle thought and down to our marrow. Here 'know' means recognise: did we deny Jesus? if so he will deny us in frfont of the Father when we knock on the door. Unless we kneel and unclothe ourselves of our pride and ask genuine forgiveness. A narrow door for a big prideful heart. But we can.
