OT vs NT
You foolish ones, didn't he who made the outside make the inside also? But give for gifts to the needy those things which are within, and behold, all things will be clean to you. But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb, but you bypass justice and the love of God. You ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone. Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues, and the greetings in the marketplaces. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like hidden graves, and the men who walk over them don't know it." In reading words like these, you cannot help but thinking of priests like don Santoro easily seen as a new Jesus fighting against the windmills of the Phariseic hyerarchy. And you wonder, how does it come that people do not see Jesus in the Bishops and Archibishops and Cardinals - all 'ex' priests ' - out of which see they fish the new Peter? How doe it come that some people easily forget that Canon law and Tradition are NOT the old legalistic set of precepts that Jesus came to implement with the most basic law, the Law of love that is founded on the fullfillment, as he said, of the OT Ten Commandments, all of which have to do with the purity of the heart? with prayers that  don Alessandro will understand.

Why did Jesus say "On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it."?
Today at my parish we had a Baptism and Fr at the end prayed that the baby will be soon able to hear and follow the Word of the Lord, renewing the Baptismal promises at Confirmation - not surprising that those same words are repeated also on First Communion Day...Little F. slept like an angel all through the ceremony blissfully and peacefully. You may wonder whether he was listening to what was being said and prayed. The Orhtodox, i learned days back, say that the peaceful trustful sleep of a babe is no different to the prayers of a Saint. Far from being an encouragement to doze off at Mass, if we can attend it with that serene openess we have already kept that key Word that is Faith trust in the Lord. let Him steer us via Fr.

Why did Jesus ask his followers to pray for laborers instead of praying for a greater harvest?
Also the question is: if harvest is the souls of men, who is to prepare it? i mean harvest is ready to be plucked so are souls ready per se? Or do they need cultivating? It may mean that all souls are potentially ready and that laborers are needed to do the harvesting and the ploughing. God plants the seeds. How do priests harvest soul? do not they also fertilise the ground and weed it? aren't souls ready to be harvested at the hour of our death?
