7 Hail Mary. That was this morning prayer assignment i got after Confession (plus the tip to take a line from every sunday Mass that can help me through the week). 7 capital sins and 3 cardinal virtues. The cardini are what hold the door together. Technically speaking not the two pillars and the bar but what makes the door turn (well not the goal but the door, i don't know the technical terms). 77 times 7 is the times we are asked to forgive those who hurt us (and the times we hope to be forgiven). 7 also the 7 husbands who died to Tobit's wife? and the ones someone aske Jesus about: of which brother shall she be the wife too in Heaven? Not in the Gospels but 7 could be the number of thanking Hail Mary we can aim to say when finding ourselves in dire straits or difficult circumstances. 1 For the gift of Jesus and the Salvation he brought to us. 2. For the gifts of Faith, Hope and Charity 3. For health if there is little money or money if there is little health and family or...whatever the circumstances we can stand on the mountains and share in the Beatitudes prayer with Jesus. Like Fr said yesterday in the homily (poor amplification but that is one of the few clear lines), Jesus will never forsake us, no matter how difficult our relationship with him maybe. He also told us about a lady who made him feel both compassion and anger: everybody abandoned me, one daughter living as a single, the other living outside wedlock with her partner, my husband asking for divorce. And Jesus? He is the mountain on which we can stand. From the mountain of Calvary and the cross we can rise with him.Find strength in shared pain. His mother stood at the feet of the cross with him and followed him all the way through Calvary. If he is there Body and Blood and Divinity enshrined in that Eucharist in the Blessed Sacrament, why should we not turn alos a prayer to the one who gifted us with the flesh of her flesh?
