Why did the multitude want Barabbas released rather than Jesus?

Surprsingly the one who robbed them of their monetary wealth and not the one who robbed them, to their eyes, of their hopes in a new kingdom. Not the earthly one, but the one of the soul. They failed to see that. They did not hang on Hope like Judas. Jesus released them all though showing the way to eternal life.

Why did the high priest view it as blasphemy when Jesus acknowledged that he was the Christ, the Son of God?

when someone testify he said he is able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild,this is were the question come ,are you christ the son of God ,and Jesus said so as you say.

he taugt it to be blasphemy because there is no one who has authority more than him.and Jesus cliam he is the son of God.
