What did Pilate perceive about Jesus that made him so reluctant to have Jesus executed?

One doubt regards the fact that they are accusing him so he is not doing anything agaisnt the Roman rule. They should condemn him to death. But their law does not allow the death penalty so they ask the Roman Government to do that. They consign him to them. Pilate recognises that he is talking about a different kingdom and that hsi rule over the Jews is of a spiritual nature. So they don`t recognise him and find that he is breaking the law but he`s doing nothing against the Roman goverrment. Also he speaks very boldly serenely and confidently to Pilate about the Kingdom and he listens openly to him.Therefore the Jews said to him, It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death, that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying by what kind of death he should die. this words puzzle me. They want him to be condemned so that the prophecy is fullfilled and yet they are not allowed to kill him. He knew he had to die on the cross so this means that he knwe that the Romans had to kill him, that was a Roman way of killing the accused. So seems that if the Romans accept obey the Jews they accept the prophecy and so the word of God. Pilate could have carried on refusing. So he accepts the Word of God and as a public authority also the Romans potentially?

Why do you think Peter denied Jesus?

He was scared that he might be persecuted and arrested too. Jesus came to proclaim the truth openly in full light and so calls the disciples to proclaim it in the same way. Evil looks for hiding places like Peter is doing now. Jesus stood up for the truth till the end.So he is not breaking the OT commandment about stating the false. That`s why Annas and Caiphas are wrong in beating him on that ground. They are breaking the law here. And Peter too but in all the emotional turmoil in the panic he was confused and scared. Like the other disciples tehy were verty close emotionally to Jesus and could never really understand that that had to happen to their beloved rabbi.Not until he broke the bread in their presnece and all clicked together. Annas and Caiphas are in a position of power and their actions are calmly performed. They are applying the law. Then Peter repented.

How did Jesus` death benefit people?

He redeemd us from our sins broke the bond of sinfulness and washed our souls clean. What strikes here is the reference to the condemner`s genaology. Older Caiaphas who is high priest and knows the OT the prophecies tells him and all the Jews that this is what is meant to happen according to the prophecies. Like Jesus knows that he has to die so it seems that they too know that they have to execute him because he is the Son of God. Many Jews of the time they did not recognise him as the Son of God and wanted him killed for blasphemy or out of hatred cause he was not the political rebel that would bring them freedom from the Roman rule. Annas and Caiphas and we suppose others too on the contrary seem to know that he is the Son of God and that they are called to be part of the fullfilling of the promises. You wonder whether they too felt that fullfilling the prophecies was a bitter cup that had to be drunk for the redemption of humanity.
