How is Jesus` way fresh or new compared to old religious practice or tradition?
Fasting is of no use if you have not renewed the body from abstaing what is truly sinful. Not eating and drinking in moderate and joyous quantities. Also the wine Jesus is talkinga bout is the Wine of the banquet of the Lamb, to attend which ragged clothes are not a hindrance. The notanbles refusing the invitaion lacked the most important thing: awareness of the hunger for their spiritual poverty. The poors bcame rich as soon as they accepted to be taken in by the servants. The fishermen of men.

Why did Jesus forgive the man`s sins first, and heal afterward?
I think back in the 1930s Ken, a friend of ours next door neighbour of my in laws, went to Highbury stadium in the days when no seats were available: only standing places. That day, first and last time, he took his then fiancee (then wife) to see the match. Due to the heat and crowds she faints. A small lass she is very thin. No no Jesus on the stands to resurrecte her. But, most shocking experience on her life, she was picked up and passed over the heads. Why did not the multitude do the same with that paralytic who was probably more in need than many of them? Selfishness is one of the sins we need to be healed of, if we want our soul to be raised on.

Why did Jesus heal by touching the man with leprosy (a contageous disease)?
For a start one cannot help but notice that it is the man who touches Jesus and that Jesus lets himslef be touched by him so showing deep charity in not keeping away an outcast. Today we have special throwaway gloves, still many keep at a distance also people affectet by non contagious illnesses - first of all cancer. So healing really comes from the man Faith in Jesus as ever. He comes out of himself and dares touching the Master not feeling unworthy of him. a moment later, healing done, Jesus almost comes across as harsh - he does not touch the man. The Gospel does not record that as in other cases, i think. Jesus does not chicken out of contact, but he does maintain a distance, showing thus aversion to the unclensiness he really wants us to be healed from: the one of the soul. He firmly tells the am to be cleansed the traditional way, as commanded by the old law. To taech us that that is the real contagious 'leprosy' we should be concerned about: any attitude of the heart that we risk pasing on to othesr by setiing the bad example.
