on Jesus pain

When reading the Gospels I was very much struck too by the moments when Jesus cries. And asked myself why. For me it was because his fully human very sensitive emotional nature made him respond to Mary and Martha`s pain. As he did with others. His humble nature aclled him to live a low profile life but his fame spread, as it was meant to be, the crowds followed and saving moments for prayer, he could never say no to they cries of help. Maybe I am still too immersed in this world as I very recently realised when hearing about the loss of a relative. It is a sinful world - and replying to you Mike - I feel that salvation is the greatest work along with the teachings he brought following which - of course nothing compares to the bliss we will all enjoy in Heaven - we can turn this earth into a fairly happy state especially beacuse of the web of relatiosnhips we are in all those who we will miss and who will miss us. The pain of physiacla loss...Leaving thoughts free - maybe he was also thinking of his death...Being the Son of God who is God he true knew that he would have resurrected but we know that he was humanly scared at the the thought of the actual death. Im not sure - but what I can say for sure is that when we approach Jesus this way -as the true human being he was - we can fully emphatise and in so doing as well as loving him more we can touch deeper into our humanity understand ourselves better our limits and the infinite power of the One who sent him

My devotion to Jesus started when I was small and always saw him and loved Him as Baby Jesus. And Jesus dead for us on the cross. What I need to learn is about Jesus as a man as a role model - a human role model- finding out about the events of His life. The Message is for all people and all times but God chose to send Him to us at a particular time and in a particular place. I feel as we want to walk in his footsteps that to learn to apply His Word to our lives we need to look at how He applied the M he brought in his own times - I had always read the Gospels as a set of parables teaching something important but until recently never paid enough attention to His actual life - personality the social environment He lived in etc I need to see Him as the full rounded human being he was. I feel that if we put the Word in that specific context that God chose this will shed a particular light and give it its full dimension.
