When asked about a religious practice (fasting), why does Jesus describe how old and new may not be compatible?

In the past Jews fasted from food on certain days to remember the exile and the hardships in the desert journey, I imagine, and as thankfulness to God Who accompanied them in such sacrifice.Now the fasting is from the Real Body of Christ. Till the following occasion and in the meantime we need to fast from worldiness to make ourselves worthy to receive Him in that temple that is a renewed us. Before Communion we kneel at the foot of the cross, aknowledge Jesus immense sacrifice and our weakness and unworthiness (remember the centurion words?) and ask to make us worth to recieve the reurned Bridegroom.

The new must be saperated from the old for you to know the beauty of the new.

when the master is taken away from them what they have never than be4 they will do what they suppose to do.

How did Jesus behave in sharp contrast to how religious leaders acted?

He calls directly those he wishes they follow him personally and simply. Does nlot put on a show to call the crowds or sits in the synanguge speaking from a physically high place. His is real autrhority from Heaven and can sit on the ground as he speaks to you and raises you to the Father.
