984 entries for this category: Rather we should ask why did some see and yet did not believe? Cause they did not want to believe. Why what made the ground hard, inset stones. Why did the Resurrection and all the other real life elements in the life of Jersus, corresponding point by point to what promised up until then, and transmitted by word of mouth by the elders in the temple to generations of Jew: it was a sin to PROCLAIM that one was the Son of God. But Jesus came to them totally fulfilling all the promises. And even resurrected from the dead. Did they not see all the miracles? Jesus was not born of a Pharisee well established in the society of the times family. It was the humble abode of an aged carpenter who, defying the strict laws of the times, had married a young woman who had been accused of being an adultreress. The Messiah taking his fleshy first abode in the womb of a humble young (faithful) woman, who was probably even an adultress who should have been stoned? (and still nowadays women in some societies get stoned, their testimony in court still not being equal to a man’s). Jesus in setting up the Church did not call any of the knowlegable Pharisees, and elders had been leading the people out of Egypt, but fishermen and even a tax collecrtor: extorting money on behalf of the Roman dominant rulers? He sat with sinners and extolled to heaven the repentant sinner vs the self righteous Pharisees. He preached meekness and forgiveness vs the old tooth for tooth eye for eye law. To found the Jerusalem the entrance in which did not call for circumsicion but via he Baptism and repentance according to that New Law of Love and Forgiveness that everybody could appeal to. No wonder if all this enraged many Pharisees of the times who refused to change such laws. The outcast stone giving birth to the Saviour? No way it could add up to the legalistic laws by them treasured.The humble of heart recognised Him from the very first signs. Many others took longer and needed different signs of different incisiveness. Even the closest disciples found it hard to believe that Salvation and Victory could come from the physical death of that man that had led them for three years.
Why do some people need signs and wonders to believe in Jesus, and others do not?
