Why were fulfillment of prophecies important? "note: Jesus predicted his death and resurrection? "...saying that the Son of Man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again...". There are also many accounts in the old testament describing the death and resurrection of the Messiah hundreds to thousands of years before the event.
what ever it is written in the bible will sharely come to pass.yes it was a prophesy and it must come to pass.i always say God is not a man that he should lie.

How might you have felt seeing Jesus after knowing he had died?
Rereading the passage and placing myself in the sandals of the discipels, there is something almost comical in the scene: you can see them sitting there with gaping eyes watchin Jesus gobbling down his food and speaking in such a matter of fact way...whne you say the Creed we are so filled with awe. And here is Jesus flesh and bones saying ehy guys what did i say? i had to die - and i did - to rise from the dead - and here i am gnwaing my food - so whats next repent and be saved. But ehy do not stir a finger till they say so from above and i come back clothed in Glory. The disciples still gazing open mouthed more dead than the fish on the plate. Heartbeat having stopped...

Jesus took careful time to explain all things about his death and resurrection. Does this give you confidence in his words and promises, knowing he and others had predicted his death and resurrection? "Beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself."
The disciples knew all that had to happen and saw it happening and yet called Jesus a prophet and needed being reminded again by that stranger. Prophetised - occurred - recounted after their non recognition: mirrors Peter's three denials. They do not even recognise him fully till the breaking of the bread. In the end someone may have told this stranger about all that. But none apart from them had seen Jesus breaking the bread and raisng the cup: with those same slow meaningful gestures. Too sad and rationalsing...I despair I may have found the experience even more unsettlin and fallen in  a state of disbelief: Jesus was resurrected in his body ...how does it come that they do not recognise him? spooky we would say nowadays...they must ahve been in a state of dazzling sadness and in this i can identify.
