How is Jesus` teaching like fresh wine requiring fresh wineskins?

Jesus calls us to be born again, and this means one has to acquire a fresh heart and soul in the very old body, where the gospel of the goodnews of the Kingdom of God will be contained.

Why did Jesus choose Matthew, a known taxgatherer and a despised man, to be His disciple?

Whoever Jesus called was His choice, because we have to accept Jesus as being righteous who cannot be caught in a mistake. Jesus did not come to call the big names, but rather those that society despised, them that had no places in the synagogue, and the condemed, to change them, so that they could preach the gospel of repentence and act as an example of the change He brought about, in the same society were they live.

Why did Jesus first forgive the paralytic`s sins, and only later heal him? What lesson was he trying to communicate?

Jesus was teaching that complete healing starts with freedom from sins. A lot of diseases come from not obeying certain rules which leaves the sufferer feeling guilty and suffering the pain caused by disease. Jesus was removing the emotional scars/ guilt which was the common belief in those days that people suffered as a punishment from their /parent`s wrong doing. Jesus healed the man from both the illness and the stigma that he was being punished from sins committed.
