Why did Jesus first forgive the paralytic`s sins, and only later heal him? What lesson was he trying to communicate?

Jesus was teaching that complete healing starts with freedom from sins. A lot of diseases come from not obeying certain rules which leaves the sufferer feeling guilty and suffering the pain caused by disease. Jesus was removing the emotional scars/ guilt which was the common belief in those days that people suffered as a punishment from their /parent`s wrong doing. Jesus healed the man from both the illness and the stigma that he was being punished from sins committed.

Why did Jesus seem to discourage the Scribe and the disciple from following Him? Didn`t He want these two to join Him?

Jesus knows everyone's heart, mayebe He had read their thoughts, and understood thjat their request to follow Him was not out of love, but curiosity.

What was there about the centurian`s faith that so impressed Jesus?

That man had respect for authority, and He believed Jesus' authority had the power to do whatever He wished. He knew even sickness obeyed Jesus too, and it could not stay, if commanded out of the servant. Many people had lived and walked with Jesus for a long time, but still did not believe in Him, yet the centurion, whom I believe, had only heard stories about Jesus had so much faith in Him.
