Jesus
A humble man. A preachor. A healer. Loved by those who met him, but often feared to. Started his ministry at 30, having lived a simple life as a carpenter. Then travelled, (literally hundreds of miles, on foot) teaching his message of love and forgineness. Many bible verses record that Jesus started his preachings with the words, "I tell you the truth." and I think this is imporatant. I don't think Jesus used these words lightly. I believe he spoke and speaks to each of us individually, he literally speaks the truth to you, to me, to those ready to listen. Ultimately he died to save us from our sins, the ultimate sacrifice, and through this suffered physical pain, rejection, and torment. And in this we can be sure that Jesus and God the Father are truly sympathetic to our suffering, because Jesus suffered all these things for us.

Prayer

Matthew 6: 5-6 inspires me to think seriously about my prayer life, both in private and in public.

In private I'm encouraged to be honest with God, sharing with Him everything I am and feel and think, because He sees it anyway, and because it helps me incredibly to have a Father who listens to everything I say, and never rejects me.

In public I'm encouraged to be careful in my use of words, never, ever being showy or preachy, but always seeking to honestly connect with God in a way that means something for others. It means I must be humble, speaking because I must connect with God, rather than because I want to impress others with my holiness. And my words must always be easy to understand, helping not hindering others.
