1144 entries for this category: Because God is fair and just and treats people equally. If He didn't then it would or could cause all sorts of problems. Also because all time is precious and it doesn't matter how much time we devote to work, we should still get the same amount of pay even if it is only for an hour, that way we will still feel as though we have done something worthwhile for God and for ourselves. As usual, Jesus' disciples didn't easily allow anyone so close to their master. Many times in the gospel we read about people coming to Jesus but being pushed by His disciples with reasons of not wanting the teacher to be over bothered, thay always wanted to protect Him. Jesus allowed the little children to go to Him because the kids are always innocent of the world, that's why He said that, how He wishes, that all those who go to God, could humble themselves like little children. Why is it OK with God to pay the one who worked all day the same amount paid to the one who worked only an hour?

Why did Jesus tell the rich man to sell all his possessions before coming to follow Him? Jesus I do think that He simply wanted to test the young man. To see if he could leave behing all the fortune he had made just to follow Him. As always, Jesus wants His followers to be free from the earthly possessions. This does not mean that Jesus want us poor, Jesus wants us to live confortable, and happy, but, He only wants to know if we can still be His disciples even if all is gone. Or rather, He needs to know how much He really means to us, if we are to choose between Him and riches.
