Why was the crowd so intent on having Jesus crucified?

Jesus did not fit, the mould of the "Christ" they were expecting. Christ did not show any signs of getting rid of the hated Romans.

The crowd was provoked by the priests who saw a loss of power and position in the elevation of women, the poor and the gentiles by Jesus.

What did Pilate perceive about Jesus that made him so reluctant to have Jesus executed?

Pilate was a political appointment from Rome, so that any punishment issued by him on a foreign citizen needed justification back to Rome.

Pilate saw Jesus as a person not saying anything to require Roman justice.

Why do think Peter denied Jesus?

Peter was scared, that he might become involved with the punishment which may have befallen Jesus due to the priests.

Without the Holy Spirit Peter was like us or me in particular. Later, when the Holy Spirit was with him he stood for Jesus
