In the strict interpretation of this passage, means that everybody would give up their traditions and contacts of this world and would mean that, the world as we know it would nor survive 100 years. 

The body is the result of evolution which is still developing and the "wants of the body" have been fundamental in this process.

I would read this passage as we are meant to put "Jesus" first in your life as you carry out your normal life.

Everybody will be different in how this is done.
