In telling the paraytic that his sins were forgiven and then telling him to arise, Jesus claims the authority as the Son of man.

For me, compassion was never in my normal approach. In my experience, compassion has been learnt through personal grieve and mistakes and then being able to relate these experiences to the circumstances of others. The important part then, is to move from sympathy to useful action.

I can now sympathise and am starting to do useful actions to help people.
