Why do you think Peter was so emphatic and yet so wrong about denying Jesus?
Matthew 26:31-35. Peter (along with so many others back then) was so hooked on having Jesus proclaim himself as the Messiah.  Jesus knew of this anyway.  But Jesus knew also that the only way for us all to know that He IS indeed the Messiah, was that He must die to His sinless worldly life, for all the world to see, and go up to be at one with God, His Father.  Peter (as well as the other disciples) simply hadn’t the faith in Jesus that he liked to think he had.

Why did those who passed by mock Jesus?

Obviously some of these people were not convinced of the message of Jesus.

Some people may have mocked him so that the authorities did not realise they were the followers of Jesus.

Unfortunately it may have been the case that the general population enjoyed this spectacle, since in the Roman rule the deaths of unfortunate people was considered as  entertainment.

Why was it wrong for the servant to bury the talent?
Matthew 26:14-16   The talents were entrusted to the servant for safekeeping, but the lazy servant chose instead to let his talent waste away in doing nothing with it, hence gaining nothing for his master.  We all have God-given talents and it is incumbent on us all, to use them faithfully and to the best of our abilities.  Ironically, Judas Iscariot – the very disciple, whose talents had been entrusted as the bagman for Jesus and His entourage – failed his duty of care, and he paid dearly for it.
