Why did the soldiers mock Jesus?

Like all soldiers these soldiers were primed to fight and kill "their enemy". At this time in Israel there was a continuing threat of an up rising. The soldiers were also taught to recognise rank when in its  presence.

Therefore we have the 'respect and the abuse of force' which would be expected from these soldiers as we have come to expect in most armies.

The soldiers were able to relax and abuse a "threat" without facing any penality.

In modern times soldiers have tortured woman, children and the defenceless if noboby is looking to report the incidences.

Why was the woman`s act so pleasing to Jesus?
Matthew 26:6-13   Because Mary by sheer faith, had believed Jesus’ many warnings that he must die and be raised up to heaven to be with the Father, yet none of His disciples had grasped this.  Mary understood that Jesus was here for only a short time and that her ‘window of opportunity’ was to be ‘now or never’, so hers was a selfless act of purest love and devotion to God, driven by the divine power of her love and absolute faith in … and through … Jesus.

Why did the multitude want Barabbas released rather than Jesus?

The multitude were incited by the chief priests and elders to select Barabbas. Jesus was a threat to the "establishment" who saw Him as a threat to their position and power.

The fact the Jews accepted the blood of Jesus on their heads is meaningful when one reviews the non acceptance of Jews in their homeland. The plight of Jews in europe under Hilter and the non support of the Vactican may be also evidence of the price paid for the life of Jesus.
