Matthew 24:36-51.  We must be watchful every moment for the signs of His coming, bearing in mind that He almost certainly won’t appear to us in human form.  But His form will be obvious to all who are of Him and in Him by the power of their sheer faith in triune and glorious God.  So it behooves us all to be on guard, be watchful for signs, be clean-living, be true and faithful to God in all things, in short … be ready to go at any moment.

It was God's plan that Jesus would rise from the dead.

Perhaps some of us suffer in dreadful ways, in a similar way to Jesus, so we can become the people we have the potential to become.
