Does Jesus believe lowly people are valuable? How valuable?

Not only does Jesus believe lowly people are very valuable but most importantly, he demonstrated great love towards them and uplift their characters to be equal to the qualities of himself as a heavenly son.   Jesus praise the lowly for what they are and who they are.   Lowly are not necessarily poor people but also could generally mean our brothers and sisters who are still not born again in Christ.

I just read a story recently of a born again gang member whom after he was converted, he kept hanging out with his old friends.   The pastor of the church he attends raised the concern that he should hang out more with the church groups and not his former gang mates.   His reply was that his old friends are those who are still need to be saved and not the already saved in the church groups.

This story also demonstrated the life and character of Jesus Christ when he treats lowly people with value and love.

I totally and wholeheartedly know that Jesus believe lowly people are valuable that is why he left his Heavenly throne and came to earth and died a painful death for our sins.

Define "Compassion"?
After reading and looking at all the different situations where Jesus actually demonstrated compassion, it is clear that firstly, the situations vary from each other.   In the case of the raising the dead boy, Jesus had demonstrated compassion to the mother, in feeding the multitude, Jesus demonstrated compassion to his followers, etc under different circumstances.   Thus secondly, while compassion could mean love for others, sharing how others feel, etc, it also could essentially mean creating a responsibility within oneself to act in a way that would help the cause of another fellow brother or sister.   Compassion, according to Jesus is not just feeling of sympathy towards others but more importantly taking an action to remedy that feeling within him.   By helping those we are compassionate through action, it eases us since we get satisfaction out of helping other people.
