Words / EventSignificance (Traditional Spiritual Interpretation)
Words: "Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing." Jesus prays for the executioners who do not understand or believe that Jesus is God.
Words: "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Jesus (quoting a line from the Jewish scriptures) cries out at a moment in time when he is not just physically punished, but spiritually separated from God, his Father. God separates Himself from Jesus because all of the evils of mankind are placed on Jesus. This spiritual separation is the heaviest sacrifice which Jesus pays of behalf of mankind, so that mankand does not need to suffer spiritual separation from God.
Words: "It is finished." Once Jesus felt he had borne the penalty for the evils of mankind, he declared his mission as accomplished. This relates to Jesus' earlier mission statement to sacrifice himself for others: "The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." (Jesus quoted by Matthew 20:28)
Words: "Assuredly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise." These words, spoken to a thief also being executed with Jesus, indicates Jesus' belief that Jesus would continue to live in paradise (heaven) and that Jesus can choose who will be there with him.
Words: "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." Jesus believes his spirit, not body, now goes to heaven with God.
Event: Earthquake (recorded in Matthew 27:52) Highlights severity of the moment.
Event: Skies Darken (recorded in Matthew 27:45 and Luke 23:44) Highlights severity of the moment.
Event: Temple veil splits in half (recorded in Matthew 27:51, Mark 15:38, Luke 23:44) This event signified that there is no more division between man and God. In the Jewish temple, a veil blocked the area known as the "holy of holies." It was recognized as a place where God might be present. Only once a year was the chief priest able to enter the area to offer a sacrifice for the sins of the people. The symbolism of the veil being torn in two is that with Jesus paying the penalty for mankind's sins, sacrifices were no longer necessary, and everyone can enter the presence of God.
Event: Spear thrust into Jesus' side (recorded in John 19:34) Roman soldier confirms Jesus is dead.
Statement by witnessing Roman soldier: "Certainly this was a righteous man!" (recorded in Luke 23:47) Jesus' innocence is recognized.
Statement by witnessing Roman soldier: "Truly this was the Son of God." (recorded in Matthew 27:54 and Mark 15:38) Jesus' prominence is recognized.

Why did Jesus? penalty for sin need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
The son of man came to serve and not to be served. God became man just to let us know that He being perfect, wants to experience and feel the emotional and physical pains that we are supposed to bear.Though Spiritual separation is the heaviest penalty, but it is to give the event more intense because people can be touched and awaken through physical and emotional pains. Such event could mean how our God underwent difficulties because of His great love to the people.

Why did Jesus? penalty for sin need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
In Isaiah 53, it says Jesus has to suffer to erase our sicknesses, by his wounds we are healed, and he became poor for our wealth. He has to suffer emotional as well as phisical pain because he had to save us from the pain, ailment and worries of this world which are both phsical and mental, as well as give us eternal life. Therefore in Christ, we are new people, chosen to be freed from the bondage of sin, misery, pain, poverty and all.Sin brought all these cosequences and death, and Jesus eradicated it by going through anxiety, fear, betrayal, abuse, allegation, torture and death.

Since many of the evils of mankind were expressed by physical means and harsh words, not only in their thoughts. Jesus had to endure all physical, emotional and spiritual evil from mankind. He endured the emotional pain that comes from seeing His people doing what they did to Him.

There will never be spiritual seperation from God and Jesus..they are as one. Just like God said in order to get through me you have to come through my son Jesus. There is no speration there. That`s why Jesus had to be inflicked with emotional and phyical pain to show just how much we are loved.

Jesus penality for sin needed to include pysical and emotional pain because God the father wanted us to know just how much he loved us by inflicking this pain on his only begotton son our brother Jesus to let us know how much he loves us. Jesus came in the form of a man to know just how hard it is to live in the flesh. Jesus also knew what he came for to be an example for his brothers and sisters so that we could live in accordance to our father Gods word. God know that we wouldn`t be as pure as Jesus... but he wants us to come close to it! That`s why the things happened to Jesus the way it did so we can remember the physical and emotional pain Jesus went through for us being spit on, kicked on beat on..just to show how much he and God loves us.Jesus died for our sins just so we could live, Remember in the begining God destroyed the world because of sooooo much sin and Jesus came to rescue us so we are able to be here today. Thank you Jesus for suffering just for us. We love you more then words can say!!!!!!

Punishment is always the result of Disobedient and there is no remission of sin without blood sharing. This is exactly what Jesus Christ did for us. the chastisment that was place on him support to have been on us but he took our place, he was TREATED AS THIEF, AS A MURDERER AS A SINNER. JESUS PENALTY FOR SIN INCLUDE PHYSICAL AND EMOTION TO SHOW THE DEVIL THAT he paid it all for mankind sake and that ALL IS FINISHED..

he wants to show to us how great our sin is, our trangressions our unbelief, we should not forget that Jesus is Son of God, he perform miracles and wonders he can do redeemption of us in easiest way, but I think he want us to see and remmber that agony he suffered for us, for in the future we could avoid sinning for there will no more sacrificial to offer.if just spiritual separation from what he will gain?his mission to bring us back to God will not be materialize and considered failure, for he has come to us in flesh and human therefore he should be die the same as human too, which hurts me a lot.i may one of those people beating thier breast while watching him in agony.

Spirit+soul+body is the inteconected parts of the nature of man. Jesus took up the sinful nature of man and this why He has to surfer physical , emotional and even spiritual separation from God. God separated himself from Jesus because Jesus took up the sinful nature of man. The prove of this is when Jesus cried out My God , my God , why have you forsaken me? When we confes, our spirit becomes alive and the soul + body become under God`s power because Jesus bridge the gap and man is able to fellowship with God again. Our physical body is set free in the name of Jesus Acts 9 Vs 34. When we accept Jesus Christ as our lord and saviour, our spirit becomes alive and develop in the same way our body can grow to a perfect adult. Salvation and forgiveness of sins involves completion with Jesus and is linked with physical surfering of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ. Above all. we need to commit our spirit to God because by doing this we will enjoy with God in the paradise. When Jesus said it is finished, this means that He complited His task of surfering on behalf of mankind. With Jesus we enter in the Holy of holies and with the promise of the Holy Spirit we are able witness about His surfering.

Why did Jesus? penalty for sin need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
Jesus` penalty for bearing the sins of the world was a spiritual seperation from God, and this was confirmed by his prayer: Why have you forsaken me, my Father. Jesus indeed suffered physical punishment, as well as emotional punishment, in fulfiment of the prophesies that he should suffer, be striped, blood to gush out, die like a criminal, die with criminals, suffer human rejection, etc as a way to the cross, and ultimate victory. Emotionally, the people who tortured and crucified Jesus did not know what they were doing, that`s why he forgave them. Finally, a lost world might not have realised the pain of spiritual seperation, so the physical, and emotional torture, would speak to them more, and open their minds and hearts in the end. In Psalms 103, it says: By his stripes we were healed, redeemed, atoned for by his blood, so I personally believe all these pains he went through were in God`s perfect plan, as prophesied by prophets of old.
