There are three things that can help us put Jesus' teachings into practice so that we can have that abundant life. The Holy Spirit. Ordinary daily events of life. Purposeful disciplines that train a new heart. You need all three. They are three sides of the same triangle, and they work together.

'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' "This is the great and foremost commandment. "And a second is like it, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets." ( Matthew 22:37-40)

"Not every one who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven." ( Matthew 7:21)
