How does being forgiven increase ones love for God? Note: According to Jesus, God`s forgiveness is motivated by love.
When you owe someone, you feel indebted to them, but when you pay the debt, you are relieved. In the same case, when one learns that you are a sinner, and unable to extricate yourself, you feel trapped, like one who is unable to pay up.Then the good news comes:That miraculously, you owe NOTHING!You jump up for Joy, and wish to know whoever did you the kindness. Being forgiven by God makes you happy and excited. If a friend had paid up my debt, I would be excited for a while, and then afterwards, begin to be apprehensive, wondering what strings are attached .In Gods case, forgiveness increases one`s love because you learn that God loved you enough to Punish his own son instead of you, and that He will not ever remember your sin. Being a parent who has children, and knowing how much I love each one of them, I am amazed at God, who, out of love, `Kills` his own, to spare me, just because he loves me! As a human being, I do not have that capacity for love, and because I learn that God`s forgiveness is motivated by love, then naturally my love is stirred up as a way of reciprocating God`s love. The more one is convicted of his sinfulness, the more he realizes God`s graciousness, and the more One is moved to love God more.

We as human as sin over and over again. If we go to God and repent of our sins we will be forgiven. Therefore we have to forgive our brothers and sisters, if we want to be forgiven.

Jesus words make me feel like the words in Isaiah 35:5, 6, 7. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; then the lame shall leap like the deer, and the tongue of the speechless sing for joy; For waters shall breakforth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert; the burning sand shall become a pool, and the thirsty ground springs of water. I am the blind, deaf, lame, wilderness, desert, burning sand and the thirsty ground. Whereas Jesus words are the waters, pool of waters and a spring of waters on a thirsty ground. Jesus words quench my thirst of soul and spirit. They are the body and blood of Jesus to me, for The Word became flesh'' John 1:14''.

Hello dear friends, To me being forgiven is something that can make any person feel they are cared for and this eventually increases their love towards that person who forgives them, Forexample the desciples brought this woman caught prostituting and they wanted Jesus to judge this woman and Jesus just decided to forgive her .In my uderstanding of forgiveness is to take step and lose someone who has sinned against you, not treated you correctly, has broken the law etc. This is what forgiveness should be.When this done the other party will feel cared for and loved and this is the immense love of God which is unconditionally.

Being forgiven is like being lifted out of a miry pit. When you ask God for forgiveness with a contrite heart and you are forgiven, you feel as if some burden has been lifted off your shoulders. You feel new and pure thereby making you not want to offend God any more. By this, your love for God increases because you know He is always willing to take you back no matter the magnitude of your sin.

Love and forgiveness are proportional to each other. Love is the cause and result of forgiveness. Person who loves, forgives''because he loves him''. Person who forgives, loves ''because he forgave him''. Mercy and surrender also come in the middle. Mercy belongs to God and surrender is done by the human. Only when a human surrenders to God, God`s mercy which is motivated by love tends to give man another chance through forgiveness. As for the answer of the above question, forgiveness is the weapon against hatred, revenge, anger, jealousy, .....and many more negative feelings. Forgiveness is also the key to good health. When we use this weapon'' when we forgive others'', we negate the above negative attitudes or sins from our heart. As a result, our sins are forgiven''Matt 6:12'' and our heart recieves more of love from the Abba Father and gradually it fills up the space that was just emptied by the negative attitudes. And hence this love that has filled up our hearts makes us love God more and more. And God is love ''1John 4:8''.

We are granted forgiveness by God, not once, twice or seventy times seven; but whenever we repent & go to the Lord with a regretful heart even though we end up falling weak & committing mistakes again. Our Father in heaven forgives us like this only because He has a never ending love for us. A realisation of this love is made deeper when the Lord forgives us & thus, this would increase the love in our hearts for Him & will fill us with a strong desire to live according to His will only.
