Why does Jesus call ``Love One Another`` a ``New`` commandment?
It is new because the first ten commandments did not upon this fact. The commandments deal with the relationship of the one to one own`s actions. Because loving one another is the only way to appease the strife and worries of this world. Not seeing eye to eye is a terrible thing that keeps us from attaining the ultimate peace in this world! Amen

Why does Jesus call Love One Another a New commandment?
To love and to be love in return is the desire of every one and when we don't seems to be loved we start to be have a little funny. Be fore you think you are in love you need to know and understand the difference between TRUE LOVE and INFATUATION,,. So many mistakes this feeling of INFATUATIONS with LOVE and that is why they keep falling in and out of love as long as this feeling comes and go, they often behave like those ones we consider mental disorder and claims they are in LOVE... Before they could know and realize it they have fallen out of LOVE and trying to fall in love again. LOVE is not some kind of a place we fall into, LOVE is not all about those words we say, those feelings we had. LOVE is all about what we do, though love may often start with feelings but it often becomes what we do. TRUE LOVE must grow. LOVE, all my life I have dreamt of it, waited for it, longed for it, search for it, sing for it, cried for it, hoped for it, prayed for it etc. I have come to know that there can never be a true more than the one God have for us by offering us His only son.On may have all, do and even go as far as been the light to the poor but without love is all vanity..... All things on earth will, for nothing last forever and no one can live forever and life must go one.......... Above all this there one thing that never ends and that is love. Love hurts, to love is dangerous and pain may be love but true love endures all things....... In all you do always remember that INFATUATION is not LOVE. Pain may be love, love hurts, to love is dangerous and loving brings a lot of harm to one but TRUE LOVE endures all things. Build on TRUE LOVE because INFATUATION is not LOVE,,,,,.. There is now law greater than the New commandment of love because love is the greatest weapon on earth. Is the new commandment because without love life would have been a mistake

To make a point of loving one another. I think he wanted loving one another to be stronger than just saying it. If everyone loved one another the world would be a better place.

Why does Jesus call Love One Another a New commandment?
In the Old Testament, all the commandments were, thou shalt not.... all very negative. But this commandment to love one another was such a powerful positive direction it had to be a completely new way of thinking or commandment. In the past the Jews had put more emphasis on what they should not do, instead of what they should. When Jesus started preaching love and forgiveness, the Pharisees did not know what to make of it all, it was so against their ancient teaching. What a wonderful commandment to follow - love on another, thankyou Jesus.

Why does Jesus call Love One Another a New commandment?
I think the verses in this study reveal several important reasons why Jesus tells his followers that they must love one another as a new commandment. First, it is a new commandment, because many of the leaders of Jesus time were teaching contrary views. They were ignoring some of their own scriptures teaching about grace and instead focusing on teaching legalism, rather than grace. It takes grace to have love. Without love, we never would know God. In the gospel of Matthew, Jesus is often quoted as saying ''particularly in the Sermon on the Mount'', You have heard it said.... but I say to you. In other words, he has a new teaching, a new rule for those who follow him. Another reason the command to love appears new is this: it serves as a witness to all the world that Jesus is the Son of God, the Lord, the Savior of the world. The depth and genuineness of fellow Chistians loving each other generously and sacrificially will be a testimony to the world of God`s love for the world. People will recognize that Christian love is unlike the type of love the world otherwise offers. Another reason the command is new: Jesus tries to make clear that it is impossible to love God and not love others. Relationship to God simply doesn`t work that way. We cannot hate others and claim to love God. His love flows like a river through us into the lives of others. We cannot be containers of it. So, if I love God I must love others, even those who for me are difficult to love, because God loves them with as much heart and depth that he loves me. Aside from that, the command isn`t so new at all! Throughout the Old Testament ''Hebrew Bible'' God is said to have great love for his people, and the world, and that he wishes their love in return. The 10 commandments are given to help people love God and love each other. The difference now is Jesus. God`s love, the person of God, has a face, hands and a voice. He`s in flesh and real and dwelling among us. No longer can people say that God is far off or unkown. As Jesus loves, we are to love each other.

'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' "This is the great and foremost commandment. "And a second is like it, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets." ( Matthew 22:37-40)

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." ( John 13:34-35)

"Whatever you want others to do for you, do so for them, for this is the Law and the Prophets." ( Matthew 7:12)

"But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward in heaven will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men." ( Luke 6:35)

"Whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life a ransom for many." ( Mark 10:43-45)

"If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you." ( John 13:14-15)
