Did Jesus believe in the Old Testament?

Jesus did preach the ten commandments. But He also elaborated on them, clarifying that they are not just outward rules to obey but mirrors of what we are like inside. In other Words, Jesus showed that even if a person could outwardly keep all the commandments, that would not save them. It was not sufficient because, according to Jesus, if a person lusts after another person, this is the same as adultery or fornication or wrongful sex. If a person is angry it’s the same as murder because murder is in the heart. Therefore, when Jesus spoke of the ten commandments, He showed that mankind needs the inner life of God in order to fulfill God’s laws. He helped mankind to see that he (or she) needs help and really needs God’s help in order to fulfill the law.

Jesus preached beyond the ten commandments to help mankind see that God looks right into the heart, not just to exterior actions.

Jesus teaching shone into men’s hearts. And His teaching on the ten commandments was particularly convicting because He showed the world that without His strength we cannot keep God’s laws.

How many disciples did Jesus have?

Jesus had twelve specific disciples when He was on earth as a man.

However, in a sense, all who follow Him obediently are also His disciples.

According to the Gospels in the New Testament Bible, the names of the first disciples were: Peter, James, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James, Thaddaeus, Simon (later called Peter), and Judas who betrayed him.

Read the details in this passage:

He went up into the mountain, and called to himself those whom he wanted, and they went to him. He appointed twelve, that they might be with him, and that he might send them out to preach, and to have authority  to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons: Simon, to whom he gave the name Peter; James the son of Zebedee; John, the brother of James, and he surnamed them Boanerges, which means, Sons of Thunder; Andrew; Philip, Bartholomew: Matthew; Thomas; James  the son of Alphaeus;Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot; and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed  him (Mark 3:13-19).

Who guarded Jesus tomb?

A group of Roman guards were assigned by Pilate to watch the tomb where Jesus had been laid. They watched it diligently, taking turns to sleep so that there were always several guards or soldiers watching the tomb at any time. (They were extra diligent in this matter for fear someone would steal Jesus’s body—particularly since He had prophesied that He would rise from the dead).

Who buried Jesus?

Joseph, a council member from Arimathea, and the converted Pharisee, Nicodemus, buried the body of Jesus. They asked permission of Pilate who had the power to grant them their desire to bury Jesus. This is seen in the New Testament Gospel of Luke (Luke 23:50 – 52). But the enormous stone that covered the tomb and sealed it off was placed there by Roman guards.

Where was Jesus buried?

Jesus was buried in a tomb hewn (carved) out of a rock outside of Jerusalem. This tomb belonged to Joseph of Arimathea (a Jewish city where Joseph was a council member). According to the New Testament Gospel of Luke, chapter 23, verse 53, no one had ever used this tomb before. Joseph of Arimathea gave this tomb specifically for the burial of Jesus.
