What did Jesus do?

The New Testament Bible shows that Jesus did a lot of miracles during his lifetime. Click here to see miracles Jesus did: http://www.jesuscentral.com/ji/life-of-jesus-ancient/jesus-supernatural_acts.php

The Bible also highlights statements Jesus made that stood out as being different from what many people were saying-including the religious leaders of the day (the Pharisees and Sadducees). His statements were radical and thought provoking and often revealed the hypocrisy in the heart of mankind. Jesus never contradicted the Old Testament Scriptures or the Law. Rather, He confirmed them. But He also added clarity to their depth. When He was in the temple at age twelve, He quoted the Old Testament and showed how the scriptures pointed to Himself.

The New Testament reveals that Jesus spoke in a way that was different from the average man, or even from any man or woman that has ever lived. He often about higher love, true love, sacrificial love and showed mankind what that meant by dying on the cross to save mankind, to save all who would choose to accept His gift of salvation.

Jesus studied the Old Testament scriptures and read from them in the Temple when He was only twelve years old. He preached and taught and referred often to Old Testament content, explaining it in the context of his own life and His Heavenly Father's.

According to the Bible, Jesus prayed a lot. He taught people how to pray. He fed the hungry and healed the sick. He answered many questions that people asked, but sometimes, when the questions seemed to be tricks coming from hearts of people who wanted to see his downfall, He either didn't answer or He answered by posing a question to them.

The New Testament component of the Bible teaches that Jesus was obedient to His parents. He grew in favor with men and with God.

The Bible shows that Jesus loved people and that He told them about his Father in Heaven. The New Testament Bible also tells us that He held children in his arms and told people how special children are.

According to the Bible, Jesus claimed to be God's Son. He rose from the dead after He was tortured and crucified. He appeared to over 500 people after His death.

Does Jesus believe lowly people are valuable? How valuable?

Although God is no respecter of people he does seem to show favor to some from time to time (blessing kings and healing a little girl, providing food for a certain widow etc...). In one place the bible says a certain king 'was created for destruction' and in other places it reads 'I will raise up so and so to do this or that' so it seems like he has an interest in the events of mankind.

John 3:16 says that god so loved the world (all of us) that he gave his son -- so in the case of salvation everyone is eligible and identical in our access to that love. So I'd say God does value people, the lowly are no exception for both low and high people have equal status in his plan for salvation and it cost him his life.

No greater love has a man than this - that he lay down his life.....

Define "Compassion"?
Feeling like others are valuable and suffering and in need of help. Jesus seemed to live his life by these ideals.

What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you?

"General Physique: Most Jews were fairly small in stature, light-skinned but tanned from sun. Most had black or brown hair worn long, and most men wore beards. "

When I see art, paintings and poster art of Jesus he is taller and looks European and sometimes has blond or redbrown hair.

What did he really look like?

The life of Jesus in a nutshell

Born the son of God, lived a normal but instructive childhood, began his ministry and in just three short years was crucified on a cross and died for the errors of man. Rose from the grave (impressive and the best reason for my faith), ascended into heaven where he sits on the right hand of God interceding for us. Thoughts???

Why did Jesus challenge the disciples to "give them (5000 people) something to eat" before multiplying the food?
perhaps to show them that not everything we see with our eyes is true.
