What kind of miracles did Jesus do?

Jesus performed many miracles of diverse nature, including:

healing the sick and lame, giving sight to the blind,

raising deceased people from the dead (bringing them back to life),

walking on water and making Peter walk on water,

turning water into wine,

extracting a coin from a fish’s mouth,

supernaturally multiplying five loaves and two fishes to feed 5, 000 hungry people,

replacing and sticking back on a man’s cut off ear,

calming the winds and the waves, calming the storm,

reading people’s thought and hearts,

supernaturally knowing people’s past and present,

making a fig tree whither up,

raising a man called Lazarus back to life after he’d been dead for 4 days and was bound up in grave cloth,

delivering possessed people from demons,

resurrecting Himself from the dead.

The most common miracle Jesus performed—and still performs—is that of healing people of ailments inside and out.

Where did Jesus get the power to do miracles?

According to the New Testament Bible, Jesus performed miracles from the power He received from His heavenly Father. He was one – in oneness or unity – with His Father. He received power from Him to perform miracles. Jesus did miracles through divine power that He received from His Father, God.

Throughout the Gospel of John in the New Testament, Jesus proclaimed that He could do        nothing of Himself but by the will of the Father, by the power of God.

Jesus said, “I can of myself do nothing” (John 5:30).

In John 14:10 of the New Testament Jesus says, “I do not speak of my own authority, of myself: but the Father that lives in me, He does the works.”

The New Testament Bible shows that Jesus did a lot of miracles during his lifetime. Click here to see miracles Jesus did:

Who were Jesuss friends?

According to the New Testament Bible, Jesus said that His friends were those who kept His word, His sayings, and obeyed the things that He commanded (see the Gospel of John chapter 15). He also stated that His disciples, followers, were His friends. This includes the twelve disciples closest to Him, and those who were not included in that twelve such as Martha, Mary, Lazarus. Several women were also His friends in a sisterly way and they ministered to Him i.e. they would have helped Him with meals, sowing needs and such like. Their names were Susanna, Joanna, Mary (We see this in Luke 8:3). Those who follow Jesus are His friends—and the New Testament makes it clear that this includes those who follow Him today by obeying Him.

Who were Jesuss parents?

According to the Bible (and confirmed by History), Jesus was born to Mary of Nazareth—a young teen girl of poor background. Mary, Jesus’ mother, married Joseph of Nazareth—a humble and poor carpenter who helped raise Jesus and became, in effect, His adoptive father.

The Bible depicts Jesus’ parents as being ordinary folk, humble and poor. They loved God.

Jesus’ kinship can be seen in the New Testament Gospels:

A verse in the Old Testament worth noting is found in Isaiah 7, verse 14:

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, ad shall call His name Immanuel” (Isa. 7:14, NKJV).

Jesus was born of the virgin Mary. She was His mother. God was His father.

Who were Jesuss siblings?

The New Testament Bible tells us that Jesus had a brothers named James, Joses, Judas and also other siblings including sisters who are not necessarily named.

According to the Gospel of Mark in the New Testament, Jesus had both brothers and sisters :

“…is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of Hames, Joses, Judas and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” (Mark 6:3, NKJV).

Jesus’s siblings were, in fact, half siblings. Their biological parents were Mary and Joseph. Jesus shared the same mother, Mary. And Joseph was his adopted father. But He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit as revealed in the Gospel genealogies.

A relevant verse in the Old Testament worth noting is found in Isaiah 7, verse 14:

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, ad shall call His name Immanuel” (Isa. 7:14, NKJV).

Jesus was born of the virgin Mary. She was His mother. God was His father. Therefore his brothers and sisters were siblings by sharing the same mother as Him.

The Bible also teaches that on a spiritual level, Jesus calls all who hear Him “brothers”. (Luke 8:21).

Was Jesus a hippy or a marginal person?

There is nothing in the New Testament Bible to suggest that Jesus was a hippy or a marginal person.  History and the Bible reveal that Jesus looked very ordinary. He blended in with the crowd. He was poor but not a beggar. And there’s no suggestion that He didn’t work or was marginal in any way. On the contrary, Jesus worked as a carpenter.

He was however a person who depended entirely and solely on God His heavenly Father. He had no set place to lay His head and said of Himself, “Foxes have holes, and birds have nests but the Son of man has nowhere to lay His head”In this way, He was different than other people. In this way, He could be perceived as not living an ordinary life.

Jesus believed in and encouraged hard work and in no way encouraged a marginal way of life.

Did Jesus wear a beard?

The Bible does not disclose whether or not Jesus had a beard. It does state that He was very ordinary in His exterior appeal. He blended in with the people of His culture and era. He may therefore have had a beard since many men did. But there is no precise record for us to know for sure. History reflecting the culture of the time indicates that it would have been very ordinary and very normal to wear a beard. So possibly Jesus had a beard.

Was Jesus a vegetarian?

The Bible shows that Jesus was not a vegetarian. He ate fish with His disciples on several occasions. We see this in the Gospel of John chapter 21 when He cooked and ate fish again with His disciples after He was resurrected from the dead. He would have likely eaten lamb at the Passover supper. He ate an ordinary diet the same as the average person in His country and of that era.

Jesus taught and ministered in Judea, Galiliee, Jerusalem in Northern Israel. Click here to see a map:  http://www.jesuscentral.com/ji/GIFS/palestine100.gif

The New Testament Bible depicts Jesus as an adult traveling, teaching, preaching, and healing. His travels took him to the countries and towns surrounding Jerusalem, including Samaria, Jordan, Perea, Caperneum. He would have taught in all of these places. Click here for more details:

Jesus also taught in people’s homes. For example He often visited Lazarus, Martha and Mary’s home and taught. We see this in several episodes in the Gospels. On one occasion, Jesus and His disciples were their guests, and Mary sat at Jesus’s feet listening to Jesus’s teaching. (See the Gospel of Luke chapter 10:38-42). Jesus also taught in fields, by trees, on boats, by the sea, in the temple, by a well, on the mount of Olive, on mountaintops, in valleys, and just about everywhere He went.

Why did Jesus teach?
Jesus taught so that the people could know the Father in Heaven. He taught to show them the way. In the Gospel of John chapter 14 verse 6, Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by Me.” His Word was a lamp showing the way.

Jesus also taught to show mankind how erroneous human thinking can be. He taught to enlighten listeners to eternal truths so that they could know Him and know His Father. He was sent by His Father to teach mankind.

Throughout the New Testament Bible, we see times when Jesus taught to redirect a person’s thinking—such as when He told the rich man to sell all He had and give it to the poor. Other times, He revealed the hypocrisy of the religious leaders of the day (the Pharisees and Sadducees). His Words were as light revealing the darkness in men’s (and women’s) hearts.

Jesus taught that mankind might have eternal life. In the Gospel of John, chapter 17, He told His heavenly Father that He had given eternal Words to the people. He had taught with Words of life to bring them to eternal life.

Jesus taught to bring glory to His Father since everything He did was to glorify His heavenly Father. He spoke the words the Father gave Him to speak. We see this reflected in the Gospel of John chapter 17 where He stated that He had given the people the words the Father had given Him.

In the biography of Jesus seen in John’s Gospel in the New Testament, we can read of Jesus claiming to have given God’s words to the people. Click here:
