What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you?
women were considered second-class citizens, akin to slaves. The fact that they are mentioned as avid followers of Jesus is unusual - both that they would be allowed to follow him with his disciples, and unusual that the authors of Jesus` biographies would mention their presence at all. Seems Jesus wanted to change things - make a different sort of world for men and women.

Why does Jesus call ``Love One Another`` a ``New`` commandment?
Those people were trying very hard to follow many laws, this command was a way to lift many burdens from them. By making law simpler.

Bonus question: Why was the veil torn in two? The sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two
I believe the veil ''which was a curtain'' was what symbolized separation of God. Only the chief priest could go behind the veil and then only once a year and only with a blood sacrifice.

Why do you think Peter denied knowing Jesus?
Like all of us, he reached a point where lieing was preferable to punishment. He went back to old habits. He likely justified his lie with some reasoning to make himself feel better.

Jesus said ...watch out that you don`t get led astray..., What did Jesus mean by this?
This is a main theme of the writers of the epistles ''Paul, Peter, John, etc..''. To beware of imitators of Jesus and false teachers.

Describe the physical appearance and generally how Jesus may have looked?
Describe the physical appearance and generally how Jesus may have looked?

The bible really does not say much about how Jesus`s appearance looked or his size and shape. By reference and making logical assumptions: We can read in the biographies of Jesus he was NOT born into royalty or wealth so he likely wore more common clothes.

Children were not afraid of Jesus so we can assume he was not too scary to look at. People seemed to like being with Jesus so we can assume he was healthy looking ''as many people distrusted deformities and sores that did not heal as signs of terrible fatal and contagious diseases''.

Most historians believe any Jewish man would had a beard in Jesus`s day. The peoples of the middle east typically had dark hair ''there were exceptions'', dark skin ''exceptions here too''.

We don`t know what he did for a living exactly. He did get some money ''gold'' from the wisemen ''Magi'' so he may not have needed to work. Except that Joseph ''his step father'' was a carpenter so Jesus could have learned to work with building materials. With this money his mother and step father may have lived in Egypt without working for many years influencing how Jesus looked.

There are several references to the messiah being beautiful in the old testament ''bright and morning star, fairer than 10, 000. You can find these references in the book of Psalms.

The book of Revelation of John ''from the author of the gospel of John'', describes Jesus as having eyes of fire, white woolen hair glowing like flames, and dressed in clean clothes with gold adornments. Later in the book Jesus may be depicted as a conqueror riding a white horse

the Bible does describe how he looked after being beaten by roman guards, saying he was no longer recognizable as a man ''perhaps meaning you could not tell it was Jesus buy looking at him''. Perhaps because of the beating or being bloody.

There were no paintings, drawings or etchings of Jesus completed in his life span. Images from artists after his death ''usually several hundred years'' vary from blond to black hair, tall to modestly short, strong to thin and lowly, mournful happy, stoic to thoughtful. Most modern western drawings depict Jesus as western European looking. These works of art are not very helpful in describing Jesus and often confuse people.

That is all I know.
