If John`s baptism was for repentance, then why do you think Jesus was baptized?
I think he was baptized to prepare him for the journey he was about to endure. Maybe it was to make him stronger against the sins that satan would try to cast upon him.

If John`s baptism was for repentance, then why do you think Jesus was baptized?
It was not for repentance, because Jesus is sinless. It was not because he needed the holy spirit, because Jesus is God the Son and the Holy Spirit. The baptism of Jesus was an example to show us that if we want to be protected by his Holy Spirit we must forget ourselves, be baptized ''washed clean of our sins'' so that God can use us for the good of mankind.

If John`s baptism was for repentance, then why do you think Jesus was baptized?
To complete His repentance, yes he was born sinless but He still had to develop himself. He was, after all, being an example to us and what we are supposed to do, so in that regard it makes sense too.

John the Baptist Prepares the Way
Yes, John`s baptism was for repentance, Jesus was baptized to fulfil the scripture. Remember John only came to prepare the way for His coming. He has to admit the baptised of John first and before corrections. John even stated that ``He baptized in water, but he ''Jesus'' will baptize in the Holy Spirit``.

Have you experienced baptism in the Holy spirit?
John the bapist told that he is baptizing in water, but Jesus will baptize you in the Holy spirit. The desciples of Jesus were experienced the baptism in the Holy spirit. Jesus said that if you ask for holy spirit, you shall receive it. We have to expect it, and we will experience it.

Jesus`s baptism
Bible says that Jesus was baptized by John. But it was not for repentance. In John 1:31 -- John the Bapist says ``.........He should be revealed to Isreal, therefore I came baptizing with water.`` It was a time for dedication to start a new beginning in His life. This incident shows Jesus`s humility also. Immediately after the event, Holy spirit descended from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. It was a great sign to John the Bapist, that Jesus is the lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. Jesus is the son God and He is holy. Repentance is need to a man and not to God. Hence the baptism of Jesus by John can be considered as the beginning of His public life and service, as Holy spirit descended upon Him from heaven immediately after this event.

maybe
Cause he is the man whom God assigned the task of giving Jesus recognition on the part of humankind? also it`s a way of introducing the teaching on the purity of the soul - the idea of cleansiness - of the body-of the soul. Fianlly it also makes me think of Christ taking on the sins of the world. Maybe.I`m posting this also as the discusion question. Washed away in water - washed away in blood. Im posting

John the Baptist Prepares the Way

The beginning of the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in the prophets,
"Behold, I send my messenger before your face,
who will prepare your way before you.
The voice of one crying in the wilderness,
'Make ready the way of the Lord!
Make his paths straight!'"
John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching the baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins. All the country of Judea and all those of Jerusalem went out to him. They were baptized by him in the Jordan river, confessing their sins. John was clothed with camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist. He ate locusts and wild honey. He preached, saying, "After me comes he who is mightier than I, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loosen. I baptized you in water, but he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit."
