If John`s baptism was for repentance, then why do you think Jesus was baptized?
I think he was baptized to prepare him for the journey he was about to endure. Maybe it was to make him stronger against the sins that satan would try to cast upon him.

John the Baptist Prepares ther Way
Jesus was baptized by John because Jesus allowed it to fulfill all righteousness ''Mat 3:15''. It is JESUS public declaration of His substitutionary work for HIS own people. Instead of HIS people receiving the wages of sin, He paid for it, taking all our sin to HIMSELF and imputing HIS righteousness on us - HIS people.

What I would say is that in order for the power of God to work in our life, we must be baptized too. Baptized by Water and Spirit of God.

Even though he was without sin he still had to be baptized as the son of man in order for the holy spirit to descend upon him and fill him with all his glory.

John`s Repentences
I beleive Jesus was baptized to show example of those who don`t beleive. That to come to the glory of god you have to be washed of your sins even though we know that Jesus was pure. Jesus was the one our father in heaven sad that to get to him you have to come through my son.

John the Baptist Prepares the Way

The beginning of the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in the prophets,
"Behold, I send my messenger before your face,
who will prepare your way before you.
The voice of one crying in the wilderness,
'Make ready the way of the Lord!
Make his paths straight!'"
John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching the baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins. All the country of Judea and all those of Jerusalem went out to him. They were baptized by him in the Jordan river, confessing their sins. John was clothed with camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist. He ate locusts and wild honey. He preached, saying, "After me comes he who is mightier than I, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loosen. I baptized you in water, but he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit."
