What was it about Jesus` answer that caused the Pharisees and Herodians to marvel?
The Pharisees expected Jesus to make a choice between allegiance to Caesar and God. His answer says that Caesar is concerned about taxes and money, so give money to Caesar. The tax money was created by Caesar, therefore give it to Him. God is concerned not with money, but our salvation. Give of yourself to God, for you belong to Him.

What was it about Jesus` answer that caused the Pharisees and Herodians to marvel?
Jesus answered them wisely that, `what belongs to Caesar is Caesar`s and what belongs to God is God`s just by using the same denarius they came with to test him. Jesus told them what they had in their minds that they were coming being sent by the Pharisees to test him.

What was it about Jesus` answer that caused the Pharisees and Herodians to marvel?
You see the world thinks ''including the Pharisees and Herodians'' they have the answers to all the questions and they know everything their is to know. Until they turn to the son of God, Jesus Christ our Lord who knows everything and owns everything. Until they repent and believe in him will they truly understand that he is our creator and teacher and owner of All. Jesus is Lord!

The Sacred Heart of Mary
Mary`s Heart Heart of Mother Churc/curch the confessional. Jesus came through her pure gate. Salavation coming through rebirth in Baptism. Like that in the Confessional through her heart with like humility we meet Jesus and with the opangs of birth / contrition of the heart and sould, we are `reborn` our slate made clean. Like in Baptism we reject the sin cumulated here and are `sprinkled` gain with the Holy Spirit and the Words of Absolution restore the seal of Grace ''Jesus paternal severity -OT - Mary`s maternal tenderness...the Law of Love.....Blood and water gushing forth from his side''

The line, Give therefore to Caesar` the things that are Caesar`s, and to God the things that are God`s implies an heavy meaning especially to hypocrite people. In my own point of view, god is trying to let the pharisees know that they also have obligation to the laws on earth and should not bear negative thoughts against the people in authority for it is only God who has the power to judge or condemn. Otherwise, they should focus and give to the Lord the favor which increases the spiritual capacity to worship and Glorify the Lord. Everyone is therefore responsible for his own salvation.

They were not expecting that type of answer from him, they were looking for him to say something different so they can accuse him of it but they were very disspointed this.

The pharisees expected Jesus to contradict Caesar`s laws; however He reminded them that we should forget useless earthly made-man things and focus mainly on our commitment to the Heavenly Father.

Paying Taxes to Caesar

Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk. They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter who you teach, for you aren't partial to anyone. Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?"
But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, "Why do you test me, you hypocrites? Show me the tax money."
They brought to him a denarius.
He asked them, "Whose is this image and inscription?"
They said to him, "Caesar's."
Then he said to them, "Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."
When they heard it, they marveled, and left him, and went away.
