What was it about Jesus` answer that caused the Pharisees and Herodians to marvel?
Jesus answer amazed the Pharisees and the Herodians when he made them realize that you have to pay your debts, give unto Caesar what is due to the earhtly authorities by paying your taxes and to God you give your offering. Do not confuse the two. In the world we live in we have to pay our debts and do not try to be hypocritical, because our God is the judge. Some of us feel that our Heavenly Father does not want us to pay our debts but he does.

What was it about Jesus` answer that caused the Pharisees and Herodians to marvel?
Because Jesus was always honest and true to God, the Pharisees could not understand that. They sought to trick Him, but failed miserably! Because the Pharisees were dishonest, and self seeking, they marvelled at Jesus answer as it was not something they would have thought of.

What was it about Jesus` answer that caused the Pharisees and Herodians to marvel?
Two things is Jesus what he wants to emphasize on us; earthly things and heavenly things. earhtly thing consists with our daily life while on earth. heavenly thing consists with our personal relationship with our God almighty thru Jesus our Lord. That if you put together and walk thru his guidance and glorious will. well..we will say it that it is a perfect life journey.

The Sacred Heart of Mary
Our souls are a gift of God and to Him they long to return. Hers the Heart of Mother Church/church the confessional. Jesus came through her pure gate. Salvation coming through rebirth in Baptism. Like that in the Confessional through her heart with like humility we meet Jesus and with the pangs of birth / contrition of the heart and soul, we are `reborn` our slate made clean. Like in Baptism we reject the sin cumulated here and are `sprinkled` gain with the Holy Spirit and the Words of Absolution restore the seal of Grace ''Jesus paternal severity -OT - Mary`s maternal tenderness...the Law of Love.....Blood and water gushing forth from his side''

What was it about Jesus` answer that caused the Pharisees and Herodians to marvel?
They expected him to refuse the money to Caesar as a sign of rebellion to his dominion. But his is anothe Kingdom. Others are the talents we need to cherish, multiply and share with the others. Another is the gate we are called to strive to be worthy of reaching. His is the face we need to keep focusing on in that Home bound journey.

The line, Give therefore to Caesar` the things that are Caesar`s, and to God the things that are God`s implies an heavy meaning especially to hypocrite people. In my own point of view, god is trying to let the pharisees know that they also have obligation to the laws on earth and should not bear negative thoughts against the people in authority for it is only God who has the power to judge or condemn. Otherwise, they should focus and give to the Lord the favor which increases the spiritual capacity to worship and Glorify the Lord. Everyone is therefore responsible for his own salvation.

Paying Taxes to Caesar

Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk. They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter who you teach, for you aren't partial to anyone. Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?"
But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, "Why do you test me, you hypocrites? Show me the tax money."
They brought to him a denarius.
He asked them, "Whose is this image and inscription?"
They said to him, "Caesar's."
Then he said to them, "Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's."
When they heard it, they marveled, and left him, and went away.
