What about Jesus` death impressed the Centurian so much that He realized Jesus was the Son of God?
The earthquakes and destruction, and the opening of the tombs, were things that the Centurian only believed could be caused by God. When he saw these things occuring, he then believed that Jesus was the Son of God.

What about Jesus` death impressed the Centurian so much that He realized Jesus was the Son of God?
the events proved Jesus was Son of God.. from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour this veil of darkness over the suffering of our Lord. Even though it was noon, there was darkness for three hours. When Jesus gave us his spirit, the temple curtain was torn in two, from top to bottom; the earth shook and the rocks were split apart; tombs were opened, and the bodies of many saints who had died were raised.

I belief the centurion was convinced because of the earthly signs, earthquake and thunder, fear of what he had done.

What about Jesus` death impressed the Centurian so much that He realized Jesus was the Son of God?
The Centurian was impressed because he heard the cry of Jesus and that during this time around , the veil of the temple was torn in two from bottom to to the top, the earth quake and the sprinting of the rocks. He was much more impressed with the opening of the tombs and the rising from the dead of those who died. When he saw the earthquake, and all what happened , he was tempted to believe that indeed Jesus is the son of God. I believe that it was not only the centurion who turned his tune but also other people including the women. Jesus is the might God.

The centurion saw the earthquake, and the other things that were done , and confessed in fear that , this was truely the son of God. The darkness, the earthquake, the ressurrection of the saints, the temple veil curtain tearing apart were all convincing enough to the centurion. The most amazing was that Jesus had shouted his last prayers to the Father in heaven, and then yielded his spirit on his own to God and died. This means that the torture and flogging of Jesus was not the cause of the death, but rather the laying down of own life by Jesus- which he later picked it up as evidence for deity. This was amazing to the roman centurion.

The Centurion was impressed and later realized that Jesus was truly the son of God because all the prophesies and premonitions Jesus haas said were true and happened right after He died.

The Death of Jesus

Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. About the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lima sabachthani?" That is, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
Some of them who stood there, when they heard it, said, "This man is calling Elijah."
Immediately one of them ran, and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him a drink. The rest said, "Let him be. Let's see whether Elijah comes to save him."
Jesus cried again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit. Behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split. The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection, they entered into the holy city and appeared to many. Now the centurion, and those who were with him watching Jesus, when they saw the earthquake, and the things that were done, feared exceedingly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God."
Many women were there watching from afar, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, serving him. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
