Jesus fished with His disciples on the sea of Galilee. We don’t know if He hunted. There is no specific record of that in the New Testament.

In the New Testament Gospel of John chapter 21, Jesus cooked breakfast for His disciples after they’d had a hard night fishing. Jesus was there in His resurrected state – He was risen from the dead. In this incident, there is no precise detail as to where Jesus got the fish. He may have caught it or He may have spoken it into existence.

Yes, Jesus did cook. In the New Testament Gospel of John chapter 21, Jesus cooked breakfast for His disciples after they’d had a hard night fishing. He provided the fish and cooked it.

Jesus was there in His resurrected state – He was risen from the dead. In this incident, there is no precise detail as to where Jesus got the fish. He may have caught it or He may have spoken it into existence.

According to the New Testament Bible, Jesus went to the Temple, which was the “church” of that time and in that culture. He taught in the Temple at times. But He also taught wherever He went and formed a church through His following.

If we take the definition of a church to mean the gathering of God’s people, the He had church wherever He went. 

According the biography of Jesus as seen in the New Testament Gospels, Jesus did not disregard authority. He did however speak of a higher authority – His Father in Heaven. He obeyed first and foremost His authority. But this did not lead Him to disobey earthly authority although He did not bow down to some of the petty man-made religious rules created by the religious leaders. For example, He plucked corns of wheat on the Sabbath day and the religious leaders disagreed with this action, seeing it as religious insubordination.

Jesus believed in submitting to the authorities and would thus have been an obedient citizen.

However, Jesus was first and foremost a citizen of Heaven. He would have always obeyed His heavenly Father above all. He would never have honored something that went against the higher commandments of His heavenly Father. 

When a question about taxes was asked to Jesus, He miraculously plucked a coin out of a fish’s mouth and suggested that one should pay taxes. This was His famous statement on that subject: “Give to Ceasar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s”.

According to the New Testament Bible, Jesus did talk to prostitutes. He had compassion on them because they were trapped in sin (in wrongdoing). He spoke to everyone. There is no type of person that was excluded. Since Jesus came to die for the sins (wrongdoing) of mankind, sin did not prevent Him from loving people. He loved all sinners, including prostitutes.

Luke 7:36-50.

36 Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to eat. 37 And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, 38 and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil. 39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, “This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner.”

40 And Jesus answered and said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.”

So he said, “Teacher, say it.”

41 “There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42 And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?”

43 Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one whom he forgave more.”

And He said to him, “You have rightly judged.” 44 Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. 45 You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. 46 You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. 47 Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”

48 Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

49 And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”

50 Then He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”

The New Testament Bible depicts an episode when Jesus demonstrated anger  in the temple. Jesus became very angry upon seeing many money changers in the temple-- a place normally associated with worship and praying to God.

The people were using the temple as a place to make money. (They were also cheating by giving people back less in the exchange of currency.) Jesus anger was so great that He took a whip and lashed it, scattering the crowd. Jesus’s anger was righteous reflecting the Father’s desire to see His house used for prayer not for unjust and lucrative gain.

According to the New Testament Bible, it is difficult to say if Jesus really expressed disappointment inasmuch as He was one with God the Father. Therefore He knew all things. He did not expect anything from anyone. People are usually disappointed when what they expect does not happen.

However, on a human level, one could say that Jesus was disappointed when His own family and people from His community did not receive Him as a man of God.  In the Gospel of Mark the Bible says that He was amazed by their lack of faith. Another story depicts a rich young ruler that had come to Jesus so as to follow Him.  When this rich ruler expressed he had kept all the commandments to follow Jesus, Jesus told him that he needed to sell all his possessions to follow Jesus.  The rich ruler had much wealth and chose not to sell it. He did not choose to follow Jesus. Jesus was saddened by this outcome. This could be seen as disappointment.

According to the New Testament Bible, Jesus expressed compassion frequently. He expressed compassion wherever He went. He healed out of compassion. 

In the New Testament Gospel of John, chapter 11, the Bible records is the shortest verse in the Bible, “Jesus wept.” This story is the record of when one of Jesus’s closest friends, Lazarus. Jesus showed compassion for Lazarus’s family; He resurrected Lazarus (see the Gospel of John, chapter 11).

According to the New Testament Gospel of John chapter 8, when some Jewish leaders wanted to stone to death an adulterous woman, Jesus, shoed love to her and said,  “ I do not condemn you, go and sin no more”.

Jesus was divine compassion incarnate (in human form). He was filled with compassion. He was overflowing with compassion. In His human form, He knew what it was like to suffer and He had compassion for mankind. In His divine form, He knew what it was like to suffer since God knows everything. And God is love therefore He is also compassion. Jesus and God are one so Jesus is the very expression of God’s compassion.

Jesus showed the greatest compassion by dying for mankind on the cross. He died to pay for the sins of mankind. 

According to the New Testament Bible, Jesus expressed sorrow many times and in many ways. 

In the Garden of Gethsemane, before Jesus was taken to be tried and then crucified, He sweat drops of blood. This was from heartbreak and sorrow. Jesus was sorrowful over the state of mankind and over the price He would pay to save mankind.
