Was Jesus the Messiah?
All the Old Testament prophesies regarding the coming of a Messiah point to only one possibility: Jesus is the Messiah.

New Testament Scriptures fulfill Old Testament prophecies, clearly indicating that Jesus is the Messiah. Not one prophesy fell amiss. We don`t have to "squint to make it fit" when it comes to Old Testament messianic prophesies being fulfilled in Christ Jesus.

The best way to decide for yourself whether Jesus is the Messiah is to read the New Testament, and then see if Jesus fulfills to a tee (in detail) the messianic prophesies.

People who knew or saw Jesus recognized Him to be the Messiah. Notice these Scriptures from the biographies of Jesus:

"You are the Messiah (alt: the Christ), the Son of the living God." (Matthew 16:16).

"We have found the Messiah" (which is translated Anointed). (John 1:35-42).

"We have found him about who Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth" ( John 1:43-51).

"Come and see a man who told me everything I have ever done! He cannot be the Messiah, can he?" (John 4:27-38).

"Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that God will give you whatever you ask of him."..."Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one coming into the world" (John 11:17-37).

Jesus claimed to be the Messiah.

In essence, this is what He said in John 8:58: "before Abraham was, I Am."

In Mark 14:61 & 62, Jesus was asked: "Are You the Messiah-Son-of-God?"

He replied: "I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven."

In the biography of Jesus according to Matthew (chapter 11, verses 2-6), Jesus reply to  John the Baptist`s disciples when they questioned if He was "the Coming One," demonstrate Jesus` declaration to be the Messiah.

"Jesus answered and said to them, "Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me."

Jesus was showing that His life was the fulfillment of the Scriptures pointing to the Messiah.
